The Loreto House Alumni began as a dream by past pupils to set up an association of old students of Loreto House School( Kolkata). Our vision was two-fold – firstly, we wanted to re-establish links between old school friends which had frayed due to the vagaries of time and distance and secondly,  to get together to do something constructive for our beloved alma mater and for community service.

With this purpose in mind, a meeting was held on 06th July 1985 with Sr. Eileen in the chair. It was an auspicious year to begin as it was the 400th birth centenary of Mary Ward – the founder of the Loreto Order.

In 1986 our dream became a reality. After much paperwork and leg work, we were registered and the Loreto House Alumnae Association was born.

​

The committee met on the 6th of July, 1985, marking the 400th birth centenary of Mary Ward, our founder. With Sr. Eileen as the chair we began our journey. After much paperwork we formally registered as “The Loreto Alumnae Association” in 1986.
